Vaughn College of Aeronautics and Technology Offers Assistance to Dowling Students Seeking Transfers to Complete Degrees

NEW YORK, June 3, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — In light of the closure of Dowling College announced earlier this week, Vaughn College will provide assistance to students to supportthem in the completion of their degree. For those who would like to transfer the following assistance is available:

  • Waiving the residency requirements for those students with fewer than 30 remaining credits left to graduate
  • Waiving the application fee
  • Providing individual academic and financial evaluations
  • Hosting informational transfer sessions online and in-person

“We will make every effort to provide a transfer process to Vaughn that is simple, as well as attempt to provide a package that is as close as possible to each student’s current cost of attendance,” said Vice President of Enrollment Services Ernie Shepelsky. “Individual needs will be considered as we assist students with completing their degrees.”

Dowling College and Vaughn College are the only institutions in the New York region that are part of the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Collegiate Training Initiative (CTI), which prepares students to pursue an air traffic control position with the FAA. This designation could allow students to make a seamless transfer from one CTI program to another. Vaughn is also exploring flight training options for Dowling transfers that may allow them to retain all of their current training hours.

Vaughn will host an online informational session for potential transfer students on Monday, June 13 at 4 p.m. featuring a question and answer period. Registration is available at www.vaughn.edu/dowling. For more information, students are encouraged to contact Kristal Singh at 718.429.6600, ext. 290 or kristal.singh@vaughn.edu.
