telent to exhibit traffic signal system to drastically reduce disruption at JCT Traffic Signal Symposium & Exhibition

Innovative traffic signal system will be showcased to delegates at the UK’s largest traffic signal conference this week

Warwick, 11 September – At the UK’s largest traffic signal conference, taking place in Nottingham for the first time, telent Technology Services Ltd (telent) will this week exhibit its innovative Plug and Play traffic signal system designed for installation with minimal disruption.

The leading mission-critical network solutions provider will join hundreds of engineers, manufacturers and suppliers at the 23rd JCT Traffic Signal Symposium & Exhibition on 12th and 13th September at the Nottingham Conference Centre.

telent’s Plug and Play system, which was developed in conjunction with Transport for London’s (TfL) innovation programme, drastically reduces time spent on essential traffic signal installation works, minimising disruption to local residents and road users. It is now available to other organisations responsible for transport systems across the UK.

Stuart Deakin, Special Projects Manager, said: “We are all for creating safer and smarter roads for people living in Britain, and what better place to showcase our traffic signal installation system than the JCT Traffic Signal Symposium & Exhibition.

“Through effective measurement, commissioning of equipment built ahead of installation, and pre-installation testing, Plug and Play delivers upgraded traffic signals and pedestrian crossings in significantly reduced timescales; from weeks to just days. Not only does this benefit residents, but local authorities and taxpayers too.”

Key benefits of Plug and Play include:

  • Reduced disruption to the general public
  • Reduced lane rental charges
  • Reduced traffic congestion helping to limit increased fuel consumption and CO2 emissions
  • Pre-wired controller accepting IP68 rated plugs and sockets positioned to prevent water damage reducing failure times
  • All equipment tested and pre-commissioned prior to installation

Registration for the JCT Traffic Signal Symposium & Exhibition is still open to delegates wanting to exchange knowledge, experience and good practice in traffic signalling. The conference promises topical presentations, a specialist exhibition, and plenty of opportunities to catch up with old friends and colleagues as well as network with new contacts.

telent customer TfL has been confirmed to join the speaker line-up, with the governing body’s Head of Network Performance, Helen Cansick, set to explain the role the capital’s urban traffic control system can play in improving the health of Londoners.

telent will also be attending the MOVA user group, taking place today, where Stuart will address the forum on the latest MOVA 8 release. The team will also be demonstrating MOVA 8 on telent’s Optima Traffic Signal Controllers on their stand at JCT.
