WinView Makes a Major League Addition to its Live Sports Prediction Platform

SAN FRANCISCO, June 07, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — WinView, Inc. (www.winviewgames.com), the nation’s leading second-screen live TV sports prediction platform, announced today the launch of an interactive baseball prediction game on its multi-sports mobile app. WinView’s baseball game enables users to test their knowledge of the sport as they compete against friends, family and other fans by correctly predicting the results of each at-bat during the live telecast to win cash prizes. WinView Games features live competitions during nationally and regionally televised games every day of the regular season. The free WinView Games app is available on the iOS and Android app stores.

WinView Games converts fans from passive spectators to active participants in an exhilarating, social game of skill where success is determined by one’s understanding of the sport. With its patented and ad-supported gameplay, WinView Games allows users to enter 20-person, one-inning competitions for free, which pays out cash prizes to the top scorers each inning. The contest has two types of live predictions: (1) Statistically driven Safe or Out predictions for the outcome of an at-bat; and (2) Situational Yes or No predictions created and delivered in real time by WinView producers. WinView Games complements how baseball is watched by filling in pauses in action without distracting from gameplay.

“We believe this game will be a ‘home run’ with both casual and hard-core baseball fans who want to test their knowledge and expertise of the sport against family and friends,” said David Lockton, founder and CEO of WinView, Inc. “As fans seek more opportunities to get closer to the action, our new baseball prediction game requires quick decisions during intense game situations and encourages users to share the experience with family and friends who are watching.”

“The changing face of television consumption in the U.S. has made both televised sports and sports leagues realize they need to find new ways to engage the viewer with a deeper, more fun experience,” said Tom Rogers, Executive Chairman of WinView, Inc. “Our immersive live sports prediction platform provides the ideal vehicle, especially when considering the enormous success of two-screen sports in Europe.”

Added Hank Ratner, Co-Chairman of WinView, Inc., “We think there’s a next-big-thing opportunity to replicate Europe’s two-screen success in the U.S. With the launch of our app’s new baseball game, people of all ages and levels of fandom will experience a brand new way to enjoy the game like never before.”

General gameplay for WinView baseball is as follows:

  • Users make a prediction of either “SAFE” or “OUT” for each at-bat.
  • Once selected, they may also optionally predict how the batter will be “SAFE” or “OUT.”
  • For example, will the batter be “SAFE” by SINGLE, DOUBLE/TRIPLE, HOME RUN or WALK? If “OUT” is selected, will it be by FLY OUT, GROUNDOUT, STRIKEOUT, or, if a runner(s) is on base, DOUBLE PLAY?
  • Each prediction made has a plus (+) and a minus (-) point value. The (+) indicates how many points received for correct predictions, and the (-) indicates how many points are subtracted for being incorrect.
  • Users can make a “Clutch Pick” for a chance to double their points with a correct prediction.
  • Before the game and in between innings, producer-generated propositions – separate from at-bats, such as steals and errors – with fixed odds offer the user the opportunity to risk a variable amount of their points by predicting unfolding elements of the game beyond the batter results.
  • At the end of each one-inning contest, winners are rewarded with WinCoins, which can be accumulated and redeemed for cash prizes.
  • The relative points earned from predicting, for example, an at-bat resulting in a single or ground out, are based on the historic probabilities of all at-bats from official statistics. Player skill comes from recognizing the disparity in those odds based on a specific pitcher and batter or the game’s situation.
