TAYLORVILLE, Ill., May 12, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Watson Inc. is proud to announce an open house to be held Thursday May 19th from 12 noon to 4 PM. The purpose of the open house is to give the greater Taylorville community the opportunity to tour the facility and better understand the products being produced by Watson In in the Taylorville IL plant.
Watson was founded in 1939 in New York. Today the headquarters is located in West Haven CT.
In 1982, Watson purchased the enrichment business of Stauffer Chemical Co. and Nopa Laboratories, a small pharmaceutical firm in Pana, Illinois. In 1992, Watson purchased Dufar’s nutritional premix division for the food industry and for US AID emergency relief programs. That same year, Watson moved its Illinois production facility from Pana, IL, to a 66,000 square foot building in Taylorville, IL.
Over the years, Watson has shown a commitment to the community in Taylorville, supporting activities for youth, as well as the local food pantry. Watson has also benefited from several years of double-digit growth, resulting in the creation of more jobs.
Watson manufactures high-quality ingredients for the food and beverage industries. “If you eat bread, breakfast cereal, take a multi-vitamin, or drink a protein shake, you have probably eaten some of our ingredients” states Moira Watson, Vice President of Marketing and Communication. “We sell to most of the name brands that are on the grocery store shelves, as well as many of the companies that are making private label food products for grocery store chains”. The open house will give the community the opportunity to go on a “behind the scenes” tour to see how food ingredients are made. Watson team members will be on hand to answer any questions about the company, and the products manufactured in Taylorville.

Patty Hornbuckle, CEO of the Taylorville Chamber of Commerce, will also be in attendance. Hornbuckle has helped to connect Watson to community members and resources. Over the years, Watson has worked toward more community involvement, and to build awareness of Watson as a great place to work in Taylorville.
