MYCOM OSI Demonstrates End-to-End Assurance for Red Hat virtual central office solution

Will showcase carrier-grade service assurance at MWC Barcelona

LONDON, UK – 21st February 2019 – MYCOM OSI, the Assurance Cloud Company™ and leading independent provider of Assurance, Automation and Analytics solutions to the world’s largest Communications Service Providers (CSPs), today announced that it is providing carrier-grade service assurance for the Red Hat® virtual central office solution.

Central offices, located at the edge of CSPs’ networks and the last physical location between CSPs and their customers, typically contain ageing on-premise telecom equipment that can be transformed – through Network Functions Virtualization (NFV), Software Defined Networking (SDN) and open source-based interoperable solutions – to improve customer experience, launch new services and provide state-of-the-art edge computing use cases. In addition, the virtual central office (VCO) can offer up to a 43 percent lower total cost of ownership than traditional central offices according to a recent OPNFV report[1].

The Red Hat virtual central office solution is an edge blueprint built on an open pluggable framework based on Red Hat and partner technologies, including Red Hat OpenStack Platform, that can be used to deliver mobile, residential and enterprise services from modernized telecom central offices. It includes NFV and SDN architectures on a telco cloud platform for Virtual Network Functions (VNFs) and operational systems.

MYCOM OSI provides assurance for the Red Hat virtual central office solution to monitor and correlate all solution components including:

·         Hardware resources

·         Cloud platforms

·         NFV infrastructure

·         Virtual network functions

·         Service chains

This helps to enable proactive, real-time surveillance of performance and service quality and automated service impact and root-cause analyses of degradations and failures. The solution also provides closed loop automation functions for continual optimization, zero-touch operations and self-healing capabilities.

In addition, because MYCOM OSI provides end-to-end assurance across all hybrid (virtual and physical) Telco (3G/4G RAN, Backhaul/transmission, Core, Messaging) and IT (Cloud/Datacenter/Application) network domains, it ensures that network or service degradations in other areas of the network do not impact VCO service and network performance and quality, and vice versa.

“As more mobile network operators look to embrace the role of a modern open telecommunications service provider, moving services from the core network closer to customers by virtualizing edge networks becomes an important consideration,” said Darrell Jordan-Smith, Vice President, Global Information and Communications Technology at Red Hat. “Red Hat’s virtual central office solution is designed to provide both a path for service providers to follow and an open pluggable framework upon which to build their next generation services by leveraging our partner ecosystem’s strengths and technologies.”

“Red Hat technology is core to our Assurance Cloud™ service and our Experience Assurance & Analytics™ cloud apps, and we are assuring Telco Clouds – in which NFV and SDN architectures run on cloud platforms tuned for telcos – at Tier 1 CSPs today such as at Three in the UK,” said Jithu Raghavendran, Global Director of Telco Digital Transformation Solutions, MYCOM OSI. “So it is a natural extension of our existing capabilities to provide assurance to the Red Hat virtual central office solution and multi-layer correlation across infrastructure, virtualization platform and virtual network functions. The Red Hat solution is a flagship use case and initiative for telco digital transformation, virtualization and open technologies.”

MYCOM OSI will be discussing and demonstrating its Red Hat VCO Assurance Cloud™ solution at Mobile World Congress which takes place in Barcelona on 25 – 28 Feb 2019.
