Donna Yasay, President of HomeGrid Forum presented on ‘delivering on the promise of an in-home ultra-broadband experience’ at BroadbandTV event in Nashville
Yasay tells audience G.hn is the only answer for providing seamless wired connectivity or the backbone for any wireless access points
Speaking today at BroadbandTV in Nashville, Donna Yasay, President of HomeGrid Forum, told the audience that G.hn is the number one technology to fulfill the needs for an in-home ultra-broadband experience, by extending Wi-Fi coverage and performance throughout the home and creating a true hybrid network over any of the available mediums.

Broadband carriers are now delivering ultra-broadband services of 100 Mbps to a Gigabit in the home and consumers expect a consistent and simultaneous experience for video, data, voice and high-speed Internet. According to Yasay, G.hn is the obvious choice for reliably delivering high bandwidth services and applications.

“With the dramatic surge of wireless connected devices, from home cameras to tablets and even talking Barbie Dolls, consumers are becoming increasingly aware of and frustrated by any ‘dead zone’ within the home,” explained Yasay. “This occurs when the wireless access point cannot reach certain areas of the home. G.hn is the vital key to providing seamless wired connectivity and a backbone for multiple wireless access points.”

Yasay added that although many devices are connected wirelessly, wired networks still have a major role to play in the home. She said this ranges from interconnecting fixed devices by means of an embedded interface over the home’s cabling, to providing a robust, high speed backbone for wireless access points so as to greatly improve wireless coverage within the home.

“G.hn is the only technology that can reliably deliver approximately one millisecond backhaul to wireless video throughout the home using existing infrastructure, whether it be powerline, coax, phoneline or plastic optical fiber (POF),” concluded Yasay.

HomeGrid Forum provides G.hn silicon and system certification through a strict compliance and interoperability testing program to ensure the fastest, simplest and most secure means to connect the explosive number of devices being installed by consumers on the home network. The Forum leverages the many years of experience of its member companies to ensure interoperability between products from different vendors and high, consistent bandwidth at any location in the home.
