eRAD PACS Implemented at Pinnacle Hospital

Greenville, S.C., April 28, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — eRAD announced today that Pinnacle Hospital, a physician-owned specialty hospital in Crown Point, Ind., has implemented eRAD PACS to replace its legacy system and streamline its clinical workflow.

eRAD is a subsidiary of RadNet, Inc. and a leading provider of standards-based, web-centric radiology image and data management solutions.

eRAD delivered greater agility than Pinnacle’s legacy PACS. Though imaging reports were quickly made available by the hospital’s contracted reading group, Radiologic Associates of Northwest Indiana (RANI), accessing those reports through the unwieldy legacy system presented workflow bottlenecks. Instead of continuing to cut, paste and fax to make reports available, Pinnacle opted to automate report delivery with eRAD.

Divyesh Patel, M.D., chief radiologist at RANI, said, “When all of their physicians have access to eRAD, there’s no issue of getting reports on time. Physicians can login and get their reports from anywhere. Any internet-enabled device, like an iPhone or an Android, is able to access eRAD.”

Patel noted that eRAD technology can help Pinnacle achieve business goals. “They have the tools now to market to other physicians. It’s a distinct advantage to deliver—to let physicians know that if they send cases to Pinnacle, they’ll have access to images and reports immediately via the web.”

Since RANI is also an eRAD customer, interoperability between the two is maximally efficient, requiring no HL7 interface.

Pinnacle discovered a key benefit of eRAD technology: flexibility. “Our Project Manager was flexible with our unusual implementation of running two PACS systems side-by-side,” John Meagher, PACS Administrator at Pinnacle, said. “eRAD offered the right solution for our unique situation.”

That flexibility extends to eRAD services. “We are implementing in phases to transition from the legacy system and to interface with our current, and then future, EMR,” Meagher said. “eRAD has implemented so smoothly within these unique constraints.”

“The kind of workflow efficiencies we deliver are adaptable. Whether it’s a specialty hospital like Pinnacle or a multi-site imaging network, we enable a right-size solution,” said Seth Koeppel, SVP of Sales for eRAD. “We’re happy to provide the tools our customers need for true patient-centered care.”
