Beyond 400G – ECOC Exhibition 2019 reveals new topics for Dublin event as tech Innovator IBM Canada (Assembly and Test division) confirms sponsorship and IIVI signs up to exhibit

The hugely popular Market Focus is now accepting speaking applications, with transportation sensing, optics in cloud computing and 5G among other forward-looking topics

Dublin, Ireland, 23 April 2019: 100G, 400G and 400+G transmission standards, 5G and transportation sensing will play a starring role at this year’s annual ECOC Exhibition (ECOC) as part of its must-attend Market Focus.

ECOC Exhibition 2019 – taking place at the RDS venue in Dublin, Ireland, from Monday, September 23 to Wednesday, September 25 – is renowned for its Market Focus which provides insight into the very latest optical communications trends and provokes discussion across the breadth of the global fibre optics industry.

Event organiser Nexus Media Events Ltd. is now accepting speaking applications, with New Markets and Fibre Access among topics on the agenda.

“As new technologies continue to emerge, and more pressure than ever before is placed on networks, the need for efficient and resilient optical networks has never been greater,” said Beverley Lucas, Event Director at Nexus Media Events Ltd. “Market Focus gives the industry a unique opportunity to look at the latest trends, the work being done and the next steps to be taken to achieve connectivity goals.

“We were overwhelmed by the success of last year’s Market Focus which attracted more than 3,500 visitors and featured industry representatives from leading names in technology, such as Microsoft, Intel and Facebook. We look forward to receiving this year’s applications and to hopefully welcoming some new names to the stage to participate this year in Dublin.”

This year’s Market Focus topics have been carefully selected by the Market Focus Committee, which includes a diverse and inclusive mix of global representatives from independent industry bodies, telecom operators, analyst groups, system vendors, and component manufacturers.

The full list of topics for this year’s Market Focus is: Service and Content Provider Optical Transmission, Optical Network Agility/Software Defined Networks, New Markets, Photonics Integration and Digital Silicon Photonics, Data Centers: Optics in Cloud Computing and Fibre Access.

Per Danielsen, Chairman of the Market Focus Committee, said: “We wanted to respond to the trends we are seeing right now with these new topics and particularly highlight the shift we are seeing from 100G to 400G and 400+G transmission standards. Transportation sensing and the opportunities to be presented by 5G will be on the agenda and we are also encouraging submissions which explore the benefits of pluggable versus co-packaging. It will be interesting to hear how things are progressing and we expect there to be some fascinating and exciting predictions for the year to come.”

ECOC Exhibition 2019 will also see the return of the FTTx Village which will host a variety of innovative and cutting-edge demonstrations of the very latest technologies in fibre optic communications, with interactive fibre optic network delivery methods being showcased live from the event.
