PCMag sent survey invitations to readers who nominated over 25 companies for best email marketing service this year, and only eight received enough responses to be included as finalists. Survey takers were asked to rate their email marketing service using multiple questions about their overall satisfaction with the service, as well as experiences with technical support within the past 12 months.

PCMag reported that survey takers adored AWeber, as it scored the highest in the following categories on a 10-point scale:
- Highest in overall satisfaction at 8.5
- Highest in reliability ranking at 8.9
- Highest in likelihood to recommend the product at 9.0
- Highest customer service satisfaction mark at 8.5
